There’s something timeless about pointing a lens toward the night sky, something equal parts science and wonder. On a quiet night at the edge of summer, one astrophotographer captured more than just an image; they captured a personal milestone, a step into new territory in their celestial journey. This article takes a closer look at that moment, the process behind it, and what it means to explore the unknown, one frame at a time.
Shinji said this about their image.
It was a good night, August 31st, 12:19 AM. It’s the Triangulum Galaxy, a galaxy around 3 million light years away and a potential satellite to the andromeda! It’s the third largest galaxy in our local group. It has around Forty billion stars, which isn’t a lot compared to ours or andromeda. I decided to take the image, because I wanted to do something new. I’ve previously only done Nebulae or Star clusters, but this is the first galaxy I’ve ever gotten.
