# Privacy Policy — Universal Selector Tool

Universal Selector Tool ("the Extension") is a browser extension that helps

developers and QA engineers generate CSS selectors, XPath expressions, and

framework-specific locator code (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer)

for elements on a web page.

## Summary

**The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, browsing history, or page content.** Everything it does happens locally, inside your own browser.

## What the Extension does

- When you activate inspect mode (via the toolbar icon or the keyboard

  shortcut), the Extension reads the structure (DOM) of the page you are

  currently viewing, only for the element you click on.

- It uses that element's attributes (tag, id, class, name, text, etc.) to

  generate selector and locator code entirely on your device.

- The generated code is shown to you in a small popup and copied to your

  clipboard only when you click a "Copy" button.

## What the Extension does not do

- It does not send any page content, DOM data, URLs, or clipboard content

  to any server.

- It does not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any third-party

  tracking scripts.

- It does not have a backend server of any kind. There is nothing to send

  data to, even if it wanted to.

- It does not read or store your browsing history.

- It does not sell or share data with advertisers or any other third party,

  because it does not collect any data in the first place.

## Permissions used, and why

| `scripting` | Lets the Extension inject its floating toolbar and inspection logic into the current page. |

Neither permission is used to monitor, log, or transmit your browsing

activity. They exist solely to let the on-page toolbar and inspector work.

## Bug reports

The toolbar includes an optional "Report Bug" button. Clicking it opens a

pre-filled draft in Gmail or your system's default email client so *you*

can choose to send us a report. The Extension itself never reads, collects,

or transmits the contents of that email — it only opens your own mail

client with a template already filled in.

## Children's privacy

The Extension is a developer/QA productivity tool not directed at children

and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children,

because it does not collect information from anyone at all.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted here with a new

effective date at the top.
