Universal Remote Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Universal Remote (“Universal Remote,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our mobile application and related features.

Universal Remote is designed to allow users to control compatible televisions and devices, cast photos and videos, play online videos and IPTV content, and enter text on a mobile device for use on a connected television.

We respect your privacy and aim to process as little personal information as possible.

1. Information We Process

Universal Remote is designed so that most information used by the App is processed locally on your device.

Local Network and Connected Device Information

To discover and communicate with compatible televisions and streaming devices, Universal Remote may access your local network.

The App may temporarily process information about devices available on your local network, such as device names, device types, IP addresses, connection status, and supported communication protocols.

This information is used only to discover, connect to, and control compatible devices.

We do not use local network information to determine your physical location, create an advertising profile, or track you across apps or websites.

Remote Control Commands

When you use Universal Remote to control a television or other compatible device, commands such as navigation, volume adjustments, playback controls, power controls, and other remote-control actions may be transmitted directly between your mobile device and the selected television or device.

These commands are used solely to perform the actions you request.

Keyboard Input

Universal Remote may allow you to type text on your mobile device and send that text to a connected television or compatible device.

Text entered through the remote keyboard is transmitted to the connected device for the purpose of performing the requested input.

We do not use keyboard input for advertising, profiling, or tracking purposes, and we do not intentionally store the content you type on our servers.

You should avoid entering sensitive information through the remote keyboard unless you trust the television, application, website, or service receiving that information.

Photos and Videos

If you choose to cast a photo or video from your mobile device, Universal Remote may request access to the photos or videos that you select.

Selected media is accessed only as necessary to provide the casting or playback feature.

Universal Remote does not claim ownership of your photos or videos.

Unless specifically disclosed otherwise within the App, your personal photos and videos are not uploaded to servers operated by us.

IPTV Information

Universal Remote may allow you to enter, import, save, or access IPTV playlists, URLs, streams, or similar information.

Information such as IPTV playlist URLs or stream addresses may be stored locally on your device so that you can access them again.

When you access IPTV content, your device may communicate directly with the server or service hosting that content. The operator of that server may receive information normally transmitted through an internet connection, such as your IP address, device information, request information, or other technical information.

We do not control the privacy practices of IPTV providers or other third-party content providers.

Online Video and Websites

Universal Remote may allow you to access online videos, web pages, or third-party streaming sources.

When you visit or interact with a third-party website or content provider, that third party may collect information according to its own privacy policy. This may include IP addresses, cookies, device information, account information, viewing activity, or other information.

Universal Remote does not control how third-party websites or content providers collect or use information.

2. Permissions

Universal Remote may request certain system permissions when necessary to provide its features.

Local Network Access

Local Network permission may be required to discover televisions and compatible devices and to establish connections for remote control, casting, and playback.

You can disable Local Network access at any time through your device settings. Certain remote control and casting features may stop working if this permission is disabled.

Photos and Media Access

Photo Library access may be requested when you choose to cast photos or videos stored on your device.

Where supported by the operating system, you may choose to grant access only to selected photos and videos.

You may change or revoke photo access through your device settings.

3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Under the current design of Universal Remote, we do not intentionally require you to provide personal information such as your name, postal address, phone number, contacts, precise location, health information, or government identification information in order to use the core remote-control features of the App.

We do not use information obtained through the App for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Local Storage

Certain information may be stored locally on your device to provide App functionality and improve convenience. This may include saved televisions or devices, connection preferences, recently used devices, IPTV URLs or playlists, playback preferences, settings, and similar App configuration information.

You may remove locally stored information by using available deletion or reset features within the App, where provided, or by deleting the App from your device.

5. Third-Party Devices, Websites, and Content Providers

Universal Remote communicates with televisions, streaming devices, websites, IPTV providers, and other services that are not operated or controlled by us.

Your interaction with these third parties is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.

We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party television manufacturer, streaming service, website, IPTV provider, or other service that you use through Universal Remote.

Universal Remote does not host, own, or control third-party television channels, IPTV streams, websites, or online video content accessed by users through the App.

6. Third-Party Service Providers and SDKs

We may use service providers or software components that are necessary to operate, maintain, secure, or distribute the App.

Where third-party services process information on our behalf, we require them to handle information in accordance with applicable law and appropriate privacy and security requirements.

If the App's third-party services or data practices materially change, this Privacy Policy and the applicable App Store privacy disclosures will be updated accordingly.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Information stored locally by Universal Remote generally remains on your device until you delete it, clear the relevant App data, reset the feature, or uninstall the App.

Because the core functionality of Universal Remote is designed primarily around local device communication, we may not maintain a central user account or server-side copy of information stored locally on your device.

Information transmitted directly to third-party websites, IPTV providers, television manufacturers, or other services is subject to the retention practices of those third parties.

If you contact us directly for support, we may retain your correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, resolve issues, comply with legal obligations, and protect our legitimate interests. You may contact us to request deletion of personal information that we control.

8. Your Privacy Choices

You can control many privacy-related permissions directly through the Settings application on your device.

You may revoke permissions such as Local Network or Photos access at any time. Revoking certain permissions may prevent some Universal Remote features from functioning properly.

Where applicable, you may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information that we control.

9. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have privacy rights under applicable state law, including rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information and, where applicable, rights concerning the sale, sharing, or use of personal information for targeted advertising.

Universal Remote does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

If applicable law grants you additional privacy rights, you may exercise those rights by contacting us using the information provided below.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights provided by applicable privacy laws.

10. Children's Privacy

Universal Remote is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information handled through Universal Remote.

However, no electronic transmission, wireless network, local network, internet service, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users should connect only to televisions, devices, IPTV services, websites, and networks that they trust.

12. International Users

Depending on the services or third-party content you choose to access, information may be transmitted to or processed by third-party providers located in countries other than your own.

Such third-party processing is governed by the applicable provider's privacy practices.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Universal Remote, our data practices, legal requirements, or other operational reasons.

When we make material changes, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this Privacy Policy and may provide additional notice where required by law.

Your continued use of Universal Remote after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
