Casual, international, cross-genre Open Mic night held at the Symbiont Bar (ex Ale Bar) every Thursday from 7.30 to 11 PM. Previous registration by email or Facebook welcome, but not a condition. Individual sets typically 15-20 minutes. No Karaoke. Bring your own instrument or borrow the house guitar (Spanish, nylon strings).
Minimalist equipment: Small combo (1 guitar, 1 mic), microphone and mic stand, guitar (nylon strings, wide neck). The place is tiny, not good for bands, but great for solo performers or duos. There is no bass amp, piano, nor drum kit.
Percussion: If you want to play with a percussionist, a cajón is fine, but can only be played before 10 pm max. After that, no drumming please. The owner of the building lives upstairs.
The venue: We play at the Symbiont, a small local hangout for beer geeks and artists close to the historic district of Mala Strana. The place is small and consists of two rooms: the bar just by the entrance sits about 15, and an adjecent room with the feel of a Bohemian's parlor - this is where the open mic takes place, with the performer(s) sitting on a bar stool in a corner and everyone else sharing the chairs and sofas, which makes for a uniquely intimate atmosphere.
