George Williams was purchased alongside his wife by James Monroe in 1817 from Judge Brooke. He was one of the primary carpenters at Monroe's plantation, Highland, before he was sent to Oak Hill to build there. He had a wife and children.
George was transported on the Isaac Franklin to Louisiana. His wife was not with him on the ship and his childrens' names are unknown.
He died in 1869. His age was recorded as 80 although he was likely older.
At the time of his death he lived with Tom and Louisa Williams. It's not clear what relationship they had with George at this time, but that is certainly worth further research.
