Aimee Dubuque

My name is Aimee Dubuque, and I am a junior here at UMICH. I started this program because I understand how intimidating it is to be a new student at a school this large. During my first year here, I was overwhelmed by the size of the program, the amount of people here, and I often had no idea who the right person to reach out for advice was. I hope this program can help you to find some reassurance and  guidance as you navigate your first couple of years here. Welcome to Physics!

I am currently double majoring in Physics and German, and am involved in a number of extracurriculars. I currently work with Professor Schwarz's group in collaboration with the ATLAS project at the Large Hadron Collider, and have worked with Professor Gerdes' astronomy group. I had the opportunity to participate in the REU program here during the summer of my sophomore year. I am also a member of the BLiSS group here, which is working with NASA to build an exercise machine for Mars! I also participate in other activities outside of class, such as grading, peer advising for the german department, and being a member of various clubs including Society of Physics Students, Society of Astronomy Students, and Community of Physicists for Inclusion and Equity. Outside of school I enjoy traveling, spending time in nature, and reading.

If you have any questions about double majoring, studying German and/or Physics, courses or anything else, I would be more than happy to chat!
