Email: kumaru[at]ornl.gov

I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Quantum Science Center and Materials Science and Theory Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Before this, I was a Postdoc in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Rutgers University and at the Condensed Matter and Complex Systems Group (T4), Theoretical Division, Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Prior to this, I received my PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville under the supervision of Prof. Johnston. My Ph.D. thesis, titled 'Study of spin and charge dynamics in one-dimensional (1D) cuprates using resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS)' focused on developing theory and models for RIXS spectroscopy relevant for 1D correlated materials. Previously, I got my Bachelors degree in Engineering Physics from IIT Delhi.

I am interested in studying strongly correlated electrons using numerical techniques. My focus primarily lies in using low-dimensional spin chain systems and Hubbard models to study quantum spin liquids and superconductivity.

Frontiers in Electronic Materials

I am currently editing a research topic titled "Exploring strongly correlated materials using resonant inelastic x-ray scattering" for Frontiers Media. Please contact me if you are interested in contributing to the topic.
