A jack of all trades and master of most, Max's varied professional career included stints as a glazier, butcher and fisherman just to name a few. He also applied to join the police force (but came up short of the height requirement).

A keen pilot and member of Wyong Aero Club for 35 years, he was a flying instructor and helped build the first clubhouse.

Max's smiling face appeared regularly on club rides and he never missed a chance to grab the tongs at a barbecue. His pig on a spit set the benchmark. He didn't do things by halves.

Max was certainly one of life's notable characters and he will be missed.
