“Gordo”, “Gordy” or “mate”. Our dear friend and fellow rider Gordon Ellis, late of Albury NSW, formerly of Wyoming, Central Coast NSW. Member of Ulysses Woy Woy Peninsula Branch and HOG Central Coast Chapter, Gordo has left us. Taken too soon. A unique one of a kind kinda guy.

Gordo was 63 years young and by young I mean young at heart, full of jokes and the intrinsic need to leave you happier than when he met you. He had the widest smile, the most optimistic outlook and was a rock to everyone. He was a highly regarded and hard riding member of our club on his cherished Harley Sportster. I nicknamed him “Meerkat” because whenever we were chatting in a group up would pop “Meerkat” ready with a smile, a bad joke or witty retort. Go Meerkat.

He rode like the wind but if anyone needed him, he was the first there. He was an accomplished marine mechanic, security guard and, wait for it, rock and roll dancer!!

Gordo and his wife Karen moved to Albury NSW a couple of years ago to be with family after many years on the Central Coast. He said he missed our club rides, but soon found like minded riders down in Albury and over the Victorian border.

On 6 March 2021 after leaving a ride with mates, he was killed after hitting a tree in Bethanga VIC. Tragic. Sudden. Shocking.

He left a loving wife of many years, two daughters, a son in law and five beloved grandsons who often went camping with Poppy. They are still in shock over his sudden death.

Well, Gordo/mate/Meerkat, you are riding in the sky and our rides will never be the same without you. May you be telling those jokes to your Maker and finding peace.
