Arthrocentesis
Foreign body removal
Lumbar puncture
Paracentesis
Pericardiocentesis
Nerve blocks
Thoracentesis
Vascular access
Perform and interpret the required scans for the rotation
To become familiar with scientific evidence related to emergency ultrasound
To become more proficient with communication of results, documentation, and billing
To provide mentoring to residents on ultrasound-related research projects or didactic lectures
Complete 6 hours of image review during Q&A
Perform at least 200 point-of-care ultrasound examinations that are technically adequate and correctly interpreted
Complete the assigned pre-reading online modules
Complete the in-person ultrasound examinations
Prepare 10 questions for ultrasound question bank that demonstrate understanding of course material
Either publish an ultrasound case report or present an ultrasound lecture during didactics
Assist with the education of the medical students, interns, and off-service rotators on the elective
At the end of the rotation, there will be computerized testing of the learner's knowledge base. Emergency ultrasound section faculty will also complete a written evaluation of the resident.
