#UKORWG19

Inaugural meeting of the UK Network of Open Research Working Groups

(UK-ORWG)

About

Open research methods have been proposed to evidence ‘rigour’ in the draft assessment criteria for REF 2021. Nonetheless, a potential barrier to engaging with open research is a lack of support and training: adhering to open research principles can raise some complex methodological, ethical and legal challenges.

This meeting will bring together researchers and clinicians who seek positive reform in research with representatives experienced with open research practice. This meeting will support the development of cross-institutional links, providing a forum for exchange between those experienced with those unfamiliar with Open Science.

The day will comprise a mix of scheduled talks and break-out sessions, with an emphasis on contributions from every participant. Attendees will have the opportunity to share best practice and reflect on challenges faced with open research reform, in addition to some expert-led ‘how-to’ sessions.
