With 25 years of experience in education, I bring a deep passion for teaching Spanish and supporting students in their learning and growth. I have taught all levels of Spanish, including IB, AP, and courses for Native Speakers, and I value the opportunity to connect with students and their families. As a language teacher, my goal is to combine World Language standards with IB Spanish standards to engage students in meaningful language-learning experiences.
I strive for my students to leave Umoja with confidence, an open-minded worldview of language and culture, and an appreciation for other cultures’ ways of seeing the world and life. I encourage them to question the status quo and work toward a more equitable future for themselves and future generations. Proud of my Mexican heritage, I am dedicated to advocating for immigrant students and creating an inclusive classroom environment. I continually reflect on the educational system and work to promote equity in every aspect of my teaching practice and in my work environment.
