The Epilepsy Foundation serves 176 of the 254 counties in Texas. Our programs and services empower people with epilepsy to live productive lives by providing information and guidance on epilepsy self-management and promoting awareness of the condition among professionals and the public. Our programs fall under three pillars: camp, clinic, and education/advocacy.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Texas (EFTX) seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist the clinic in the day-to-day operations of seeing patients with epilepsy. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of interacting with patients with epilepsy and their families and learning more about the diagnosis and treatment of the patients while working for a well-known community-based nonprofit organization.
Answering phone calls from patients to schedule appointments.
Making appointment reminder phone calls before clinic days.
Greeting and signing in patients at the front desk on clinic days.
Filing patient folders and handling mailouts for patients.
Collaborating with clinic staff for marketing and communications with patients regarding clinic updates.
Other duties as assigned.
Comfortable answering phone calls from patients and or family members.
Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., health administration, nonprofit work, nursing, or other health-related fields.)
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel).
Comfortable with learning clinic scheduling and data input systems.
An effective communicator, both written and oral.
Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, and community contacts.
Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
