Organization Description: 

The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) works to create opportunities for all Houstonians to have access to safe homes that they can afford in communities where they can thrive. Our department works closely with service providers and developers across the city to improve the quality of life for Houston residents. 

Primary Function: 

The intern will offer administrative support to the Communications and Outreach team in tracking tasks and project deadlines, by assisting with the design and execution of social media campaigns. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create weekly and monthly calendars to promote HCD projects on various social media websites. 

• Design and distribute content such as infographics, videos, and press releases on social media. 

• Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability. 

• Provide support with tracking the success of current communications campaigns.

• Writing and editing, capturing images; developing social media campaigns, and preparing communiqués, social media, public information, events, and posting updated information for the department. 

Preferred qualifications: 

• Experience working with MS Office.

• Exceptional research skills.

• Strong verbal as well as written communication skills.

• Exceptional time-management and organizational skills.

• A keen eye for details.

• Time management and ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
