Founded in 1992 by Pastors Rudy and Juanita Rasmus, Bread of Life, Inc. began by serving hot meals to Houston's homeless, quickly expanding to offer a broad range of services and support. In partnership with Beyonce's BeyGOOD and Tina Knowles-Lawson, they've conducted anti-hunger initiatives and disaster relief efforts. Nearly three decades later, Bread of Life continues to aid underserved communities in Houston through programs in homelessness, health, hunger relief, and their community radio station KMAZ The Amazing 102.5 FM.
Amazing 102.5 FM, a staple of the Houston community radio scene, is excited to offer a Public Relations Internship tailored for a college student eager to dive into the world of media relations, storytelling, and community engagement. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic radio station environment, working alongside seasoned professionals to promote our mission and impact. If you're a communication, journalism, or marketing major looking to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, we welcome you to apply.
Assist in developing and executing public relations strategies to enhance the station's visibility and engagement with the community.
Support the creation and distribution of press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.
Help maintain relationships with local media outlets, journalists, and influencers, and assist in managing media inquiries and interview requests.
Participate in organizing station events, including community outreach and promotional activities.
Monitor media coverage and assist in compiling reports on PR outcomes.
Engage in brainstorming sessions for creative PR campaigns and storytelling opportunities.
Gain exposure to crisis communication management and the strategic response process.
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a focus on Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a knack for storytelling.
An enthusiastic learner with a proactive mindset and a willingness to take on varied tasks.
Basic understanding of media relations and digital marketing principles.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
Ability to commit to 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship, with flexibility around class schedules.
