Nearly three decades later, Bread of Life continues to aid underserved communities in Houston through programs in homelessness, health, hunger relief, and their community radio station KMAZ The Amazing 102.5 FM.
Amazing 102.5 FM, a staple of the Houston community radio scene, seeks an enthusiastic and technically inclined Broadcast Engineer Assistant. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in broadcast engineering or a related field, offering hands-on experience in maintaining and operating radio broadcast systems. Assist the Broadcast Engineer in installing, maintaining, and repairing broadcast equipment, including but not limited to transmitters, consoles, and audio equipment.
Help in conducting routine checks and maintenance to ensure all broadcasting equipment operates reliably and meets FCC regulations.
Support troubleshooting efforts to quickly resolve technical issues and minimize on-air disruption.
Accompany the Broadcast Engineer to remote broadcasts, assisting with the setup and operation of broadcasting equipment.
Maintain an organized record of maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and repair activities.
Learn from the Broadcast Engineer and take on increasing responsibilities over time, with the potential for growth within the station.
Ensure the broadcast studio and related technical areas are kept clean and organized.
A foundational understanding of electronics, broadcasting technology, and audio equipment, gained through education or practical experience.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced broadcasting environment.
Basic proficiency with audio editing software and digital broadcasting systems is a plus.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
