Primary Function: 

The Community Initiatives (CI) Intern will be responsible for assisting in numerous activities and supporting the CI team in various projects; as well as working with community groups and partners alongside the CI Team. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Regularly complete weekly reports updating supervisor on the status of their project.

• Meet weekly with the CI Team.

• Assist the CI Team in developing contact with neighborhood stakeholders. 

• Take pictures of CI events or projects for use in organizational promotion.

• Support project communications and outreach including creating flyers and marketing materials.

• Adhere to the employee guidelines as specified by Avenue.

• Maintain the standards set by the policies and procedures of the CI department.

• Willingness and ability to support the CI Team with various duties and tasks. 

Preferred qualifications: 

• Currently in an undergraduate/graduate degree program with an interest in marketing, production, public relations, journalism, hospitality or communications, political science/advocacy, or non-profit management fields. 

• Graphic design and social media experience. 

• Strong in Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. 

• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, is helpful. Self-directed and takes initiative and comfortable speaking to all stakeholders (staff, vendors, community members/leaders, volunteers, etc.)
