Primary Function:
The intern will be responsible for presenting a professional image and performing various activities to support the daily operations of the assigned team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work directly on special projects as assigned
Smile and great every visitor and patient as they enter the building
Answer the phone and direct patients as necessary
Provide general eligibility information and clinic location
Assist the assigned department with the management of medical records and appointment confirmation
Answer the telephone and provide customer service in accordance to the Code of Conduct supportive of SAN JOSÉ CLINIC cultural diversity objectives
Transfer calls to the designated staff member for any patient needing medical advice or emergency treatment with no exceptions
Follow all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance
Maintain confidentiality of patient information/records at all times
Maintain established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
Implement job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic cultural diversity objectives.
Preferred qualifications:
Bilingual in English/Spanish required
Proficiently use the computer software related to data entry
Word, Excel, PowerPoint &/or Google equivalents
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures
Willingness to learn organizational skills, multi-tasking and effective use of time
Treat staff, volunteers, and patients with respect at all times
Able to learn & use Microsoft Office and practice management system software applications
Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
Can demonstrate effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast paced environments
