Organization Description:
The Montrose Center is the LGBTQ+ Community Center for Houston and the surrounding area. We provide services for youth to seniors, behavioral health treatment, homelessness prevention and intervention, HIV services, trauma recovery services, case management and recovery support services.
Primary Function:
The Volunteer Management intern will assist recruiting and supporting volunteers to support programs and events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Research and categorize community, corporate, school, and faith-based groups who might assist with in-kind drives especially our emergency food pantry
Coordinate with interested groups to develop in-kind drives and promote interest in event and virtual volunteering
Assist in managing the Galaxy volunteer online platform
Support volunteer virtual and in person orientations and training programs
Coordinate with Community Projects Specialist - Volunteers to identify volunteers suited for/interested in Lead Volunteer Program especially at the new senior center
Develop a mechanism to acknowledge all active volunteers during their birthday month
Plan and facilitate volunteer appreciation events while operating within budget constraints
Assist in generating an end-of-year report of volunteer program accomplishments that Attend development staff meetings and development events as assigned
Assist with special projects and other learning opportunities as needed
May be required to work outside of normal business hours
Preferred qualifications:
Majors: Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or Social Work
