Organization Description:

The Montrose Center is the LGBTQ+ Community Center for Houston and the surrounding area. We provide services for youth to seniors, behavioral health treatment, homelessness prevention and intervention, HIV services, trauma recovery services, case management and recovery support services.

Primary Function:

The Revenue Cycle intern will assist accounting staff in analyzing client insurance accounts, researching payment discrepancies and billing clients for their portion of the payment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Retrieve remittances from the source

• Prepare the upload to the electronic health record

• Review 20-40 accounts and report to the supervisor any changes needed in fees or allowances

• Research denials and contact the carrier to determine cause if not apparent

• Prepare bills for client potion of the charges

• Communicate with providers about changes in copays and deductibles

• Other learning opportunities as assigned

Preferred qualifications:

• Majors: Accounting, Non-Profit Management, or General Business
