Organization Description:

The Montrose Center is the LGBTQ+ Community Center for Houston and the surrounding area. We provide services for youth to seniors, behavioral health treatment, homelessness prevention and intervention, HIV services, trauma recovery services, case management and recovery support services.

Primary Function:

This intern will assist the Development Director in planning and executing Center events.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support Development Director in creating plan for each event, recruiting entertainment, soliciting in-kind donations, managing donor tables

  • Assist with the Community Special Events calendar

  • Attend events and assist in set up, logistics, volunteer direction

  • Assist with managing all event operations

  • Assist in the research and creation of content including client stories

  • Assist writing press releases/media alerts

  • Assist in entering data into Sales Force and preparing thank you notes

  • Assist with measurement of event performance and identify areas for improvement

  • Attend development staff meetings and development events as assigned

  • Assist with special projects as needed

  • Other learning opportunities as assigned

  • Will be required to work outside of normal business hours

Preferred qualifications:

  • Majors: Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Social Work
