Primary Function:

The Communications Intern role requires an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented individual who has a high degree of flexibility and can manage multiple tasks. This individual is a team-player with a willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. Depending on skillset, the intern will assist the Refugee Services Community Engagement Team with communications including, but not limited to graphic design, writing and editing, photo and video production and editing, social media content, development of standard operating procedure, and other communications and administrative support tasks as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Community Engagement Team with the development of standard operating procedures and technical writing

  • Assist with graphic design projects for both print and digital distribution

  • Draft and organize content to promote Community Engagement’s initiatives

  • Create and coordinate content for IM’s social media channels- Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram

  • Draft press releases, marketing copy, and other writing assignments

  • Attend and take photos/videos at company and volunteer events as assigned

  • Archive photos and digital content

  • Create videos and other audio/visual collateral as assigned

  • Provide miscellaneous Communications and Administrative support as assigned

  • May require some work outside normal business hours (8:30 am-5:00 pm) on an as-needed basis

  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred qualifications:

  • Majors: Liberal Arts, Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress

  • Experience taking photos and video footage. Photo and Video editing knowledge helpful

  • Teamwork-oriented and able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds

  • Reliable transportation, valid Driver's License, auto registration, inspection, and automobile liability insurance are required.
