GRADcafé by Project GRAD is a service of the Tejano Center for Community Concerns. We offer FREE services to help individuals of all ages decide on a career, apply to college, and find the financial aid they need. Whether they want to attend college to get a degree or work on a certificate in a professional trade, GRADcafé guides them through every step. We serve in order to achieve our mission, partnering with trusted community organizations, high schools and charter schools, and community colleges and universities. Our programs provide a continuum of services during students’ high school years, as they transition to college, and while they are pursuing a workforce certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree.

Primary Function:

This opportunity is ideal for an energetic and self-driven college student wanting to learn about work in a non-profit organization dedicated to helping students pursue their educational goals. This internship will introduce the intern to methods in guiding middle school and high school aged students to plan their college and career path and supporting the advising team that delivers the services directly.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for GRAD programs, including printing, copying, and filing

  • Make outbound calls to students with reminder of college and career planning program workshops

  • Prepare materials for programs and events

  • Organize and inventory program supplies

  • Enter program data – attendance rosters, daily reports, and registration information

  • Assist in welcoming and greeting visitors to advising center and assist with signing in

  • Assist students with creating FSA IDs to complete FAFSA

  • Shadow advisors in advising sessions with students and families

  • Attend and support programs and events as needed.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
