Organization Description:
Since its founding in 1971, CEC has worked diligently towards its mission to foster dialogue, education, and collaboration on environmental issues in the Houston/Gulf Coast Region. CEC is proud to represent a diverse alliance of approximately 150 member organizations and individuals – a group which includes nonprofit organizations, governmental bodies, concerned community members, activists, and more – and is the only local organization that seeks to connect the entire environmental community within the Greater Houston Area.
Primary Function:
The intern will work with the Executive Director to create communications deliverables and social media posts to represent the CEC. Flexible. The position is remote, but good communication must be maintained with the Executive Director. General office hours are between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional opportunities to work evenings and weekends may be available. Intern will work approximately 10-15 hours a week when school is in session.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Creation of flyers and graphics for upcoming events
Posting of weekly member spotlights and event related graphics
Checking and responding to social media messaging
Other relevant duties as assigned
Preferred qualifications:
Excellent organizational, writing, and proofreading skills
Strong research, oral, and written communication skills
Computer and internet skills, preferably including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva; social media and web publishing apps such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Wordpress
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor in person, by email, and phone
Ability to successfully interact with a variety of internal and external individuals, including CEC staff, board members, representatives of member organizations, and potential donors
