The UFC 258 final was a bit of a mess, but we can expect a good show - I sure would have liked to see Cody Garbrandt in the Octagon against Usman because he remains a “bigger name” than Burns because of his accomplishments. He was once a world champion and I was curious how he was going to perform at 170 pounds, already with the weigh-in whether that was a challenge for him.
However, while Burns is not as famous as Garbrandt, he remains a great replacement for this card. His last victory he recorded against the only fighter who beat Usman in his career, Jussier Formiga.
Still, the fact remains that Burns remains the underdog in this battle for the flyweight belt. That may make him more dangerous, as it wouldn't be the first time that a fighter overlooked by the book-takers has surprised.
Burns is a fighter who works in combinations and he has power. If he is able to quickly apply pressure to Usman in their confrontation, he could sow doubt in the champion's mind. Burns is on a surge of confidence with his latest victory in the Octagon.
