Tuesday

Index Card/Paper Challenge

Use up to 100 index cards (or cut 3in x 5in pieces of card stock if you don’t have index cards) to see how tall of a tower you can build. You can use any kind of tape you have available. 3x5 index cards typically come in packs of 100. Bonus challenge: see if you can build the tower using 18 inches of tape or less!

Wednesday

While waiting for dinner, Mrs. Bush created the following rhythm patterns. The forks were used to create beamed eighth notes, the spoons were quarter notes, and she used toothpicks to create quarter rests. Try to create TWO of her original patterns, and then create a four-beat pattern of your own. Post a picture of your creation on Wednesday under Mrs. Bush’s post! Now what’s for dinner?

Copycat Workout: Engage in an activity, motion, or exercise and have your child be your copycat! Start with simple activities, for example marching or touching your toes. Then move into more complex and difficult activities, such as push ups, sit ups, or jumping jacks. Change things up and let your child lead the way!

Tape Shape Game: Ues tape to put a variety of shapes, letters, and/or numbers on your floor. Have your child stand on their favorite one, then give them instructions to follow that will lead them to their next destination (for example: "bear crawl to the square," "hop like a frog to the T," "run to the rectangle," or "gallop like a horse to the triangle.") This game will keep your child moving, but also helps reinforce their shapes, letters, and numbers!

Weekly Workout: 25 jumping jacks

10 squats or squat jumps

20 sit ups

10 push ups

1-minute wall sit

Add more repetitons to this if you need more of a challenge! Run/walk around outside of house or neighborhood if possible.

Balloon Tennis:

Clear a large space. What you will need: 2 charis roughly 10 feet apart. Tie a string between them. Hand out fly swatters (if you don't have them, just use your hands). Inflate balloon.

Rules: just a game of tennis! You must hit the balloon withthe fly swatter (or hand) back over the string to the other side. You can hit the balloon 2 times to get it over the string (or make it 3 if you need to). If the balloon hits the floor on the other side of the string, you get a point. (If you do not have balloons, you can use a ball or any small object that you can toss and catch. If it hits the ground on the other players side, you get a point.)
