Vitalnomic: A Solution to Post-Surgical Patient Care
Vitalnomic: A Solution to Post-Surgical Patient Care
During the Summer of 2021, I was apart of an interdisciplinary team finding a solution to post-surgical patient care. This was an industry inspired project in association with the Students' Engineering Council Directed Internship.
In the United States, medical bills are often very expensive. Many families are not able to pay for critical surgical procedures because of the cost of the recovery room and all of the associated costs (room, bed, nurses, medication, etc.). Our goal is to build and pitch a solution that is both viable as an independent business and provides cheap options to patients in need.
At the end of 12 weeks, my team and I pitched this concept and business model to professors of practice at Texas A&M and to industry experts. I was also able to learn about business finances, professional engineering, and other critical aspects not taught in the classroom from experienced industry professionals and professors.
