As a partnering Institute

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Govt of India to reach out to the villages of the country through higher education institutions. The programme aims to change the rural India with the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India. So far about 2381 higher education institutions are participating in the UBA programme. Such institutes are known as Partnering Institutes. Each partnering institute has to adopt 5 villages and to work on the villages based on the need analysis. Though UBA has identified certain core themes were the institutes has to work on, partnering institutes have the freedom to do any sort of developmental activities in their adopted villages.

The Govt College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram has identified the following villages for the adoption process and is actively involved in the development process of these areas.

  1. Thiruvananthapuram rural

  2. Kudappanakunnu

  3. Aruvikkara

  4. Aryanad

  5. Pangode
