Ty Leverty

Ty Leverty is the Gerald D. Stephens CPCU Distinguished Chair in Risk Management and Insurance and Associate Professor of Risk and Insurance at UW-Madison's Wisconsin School of Business.

Prior to joining the faculty at UW-Madison, Leverty was an Associate Professor of Finance and the TRISTAR Risk Management Research Fellow at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business.

Leverty's research interests are in the economics of insurance markets, insurance company operations, and public policy issues in insurance. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the President of the Risk Theory Society, and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Risk and Insurance Association.

Leverty earned his B.A. in economics and history from the University of Washington and his Ph.D. in risk management and insurance from Georgia State University.
