My priorities and goals
Work with state, county, and local partners to achieve city and citizen priorities.
More coordination and cooperation with residents and community-based organizations.
Empower and elevate citizen-led commissions that serve as a channel for community involvement.
Make informed decisions based on input from local, state, and regional partners and experts.
Investigate and/or update policy to improve our most treasured resource—our lakes and water.
Increase usability and access to Mound’s community resources, including its amazing system of parks.
Deliver on our The Mound Comprehensive 2040 Plan goals and suggested actions from the community--learn more about the city’s plan.
The city will be preparing for the 2050 Plan shortly, and I seek to help channel citizen input to chart our path forward in this critical planning document.
Continue my record of finding grants or unique opportunities to accomplish our goals in a budget-conscious manner.
Aid the Mound's campaign to secure funding for our water treatment facility.
Getting things done for Mound
Recently, I collaborated with the Parks and Open Spaces Commission, Mound City Council, and volunteers in the community to expand Edgewater Park’s native garden. Planting of the garden occurred on October 4, 2025. The majority of funding came from a Hennepin County Good Steward Grant that I applied for, with the rest of the funding provided by the City of Mound. The grant enabled the park to become home to thousands of native plants and fruit-bearing shrubs, as well as interpretive signage. These additions will add beauty for residents, while also providing food and habitat for insects and pollinators. The park will also help water quality in the impaired Harrison Bay by reducing runoff on a steep slope. Read more.
Planted in 2021, the Belmont Native Garden was the first collaboration between myself and the Parks and Open Spaces Commission/City Council. The city paid for the plants installed at the site, while I managed installation as well as weeding, replanting, expanding the garden spaces. Thankfully, things have gone a lot smoother since the first year with the planting occurring during a drought, I had to haul water in my vehicle to help the young plants get established! As noted in the interview he had with the Laker Pioneer, the most rewarding aspect of the gardens has been getting to meet citizens and residents who enjoy walking by the spaces and viewing the different blooms and pollinators.
