This Privacy Policy describes how txtpad — Notepad & TXT Editor ("txtpad", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application.
A. Documents and Local Files
txtpad is an offline-first plain text editor. All .txt files created, edited, or read within txtpad are stored locally on your device or in directories you explicitly grant the app permission to access. We do not collect, transmit, or store your document contents or file names on any external servers.
B. Age Information (App Settings)
txtpad provides a voluntary Age Setting within the app’s Settings menu.
Local Processing: If you enter your age or birth year, this information is stored strictly locally on your device.
Purpose: This value is used solely to configure appropriate ad treatment (such as enabling or restricting ad personalization) to comply with COPPA, GDPR, and Google Play Families Policies.
No Remote Transmission: We do not transmit, collect, or store your age information on external servers.
The free version of txtpad displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. Depending on your age setting, geographic location, and consent choices, you may encounter different types of advertisements:
Contextual Ads: These ads are selected purely based on the current context or category of the app (such as plain text editing). They do not build interest profiles or track user activity across apps.
Non-Personalized Ads (NPA): These ads are selected using contextual information rather than past user behavior. While they do not use mobile advertising identifiers for interest-based ad targeting, ad networks may still process limited device data for operational purposes (such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and anti-fraud detection).
Personalized Ads: Subject to age eligibility and explicit user consent in supported regions, AdMob may show interest-based ads tailored to your past online activity using device advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID).
Depending on your region (e.g., European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, Switzerland, or certain U.S. states), you may be presented with a consent choice banner managed via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP):
Managing Consent: You can grant, withhold, or revoke consent for personalized advertising and vendor data processing at any time.
Updating Preferences: You can update or change your ad consent choices and age setting at any time directly in the app’s Settings menu.
txtpad is rated Everyone / Rated for 3+ and targets a general audience:
Minors & Supervised Accounts: If an age entered in Settings indicates that the user is a child (under 13 in the U.S. or under 16/18 in applicable EU jurisdictions), personalized advertising and interest-based tracking are automatically disabled.
Child-Directed Signal: For minor users or where age is unspecified, the app transmits child-directed flags (TFCD / TFUA) to Google AdMob to ensure only family-safe, non-personalized or contextual ads are requested.
No Personal Data Collection: We do not knowingly collect or request personal information from children.
Google AdMob may collect technical device identifiers (such as IP address, device model, and OS version) to facilitate ad delivery, reporting, and security. To learn more about how Google processes ad data, please review:
Under privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA:
You have the right to accept or decline personalized ad targeting.
You can reset or opt out of interest-based ads via your Android System Settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
You can modify your consent options inside txtpad at any time.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in app features, legal requirements, or advertising practices. Updates will be published on this page with a revised "Effective Date".
