Regulate is a straight-edge band from New York that puts forth some more experimental energy into the world of hardcore. They have released an EP that was followed by two albums, one of which was just released this year. There is one demo and an EP featured on Regulate's Bandcamp which is not featured on other platforms; they contain some early versions of songs on later albums but also contain some very heavy tracks that absolutely rip. The latest album was self-titled and has a mix of melodic and heavier hardcore songs with some songs blending the two. Regulate's EP Years of Rage was packed with powerful lyrics and riffs, the first half of this six-song project packs in some intricate and impactful songs. The band's sound has developed with each project they have released, becoming more melodic throughout the discography but still packing that same energetic rush that they always bring. Their album In The Promise of Another Tomorrow presents a good middle ground between their other two projects. Regulate is signed to Flatspot Records which is based out of Baltimore, Maryland, and has signed other large hardcore bands past and present. I saw Regulate live this past summer at The Rumble which is hosted at the Cobra Lounge in Chicago and Regulate was one of my favorite sets if not my favorite over the entire two-day festival that featured over thirty bands.
