Friction

Friction brings us old-school style with a new spin for the modern day. Friction is from Toronto, Canada, and packs some heavy riffs and intriguing instrumentals that keep your focus fixed. I stumbled across their cassette Conditioned to Chaos a few weeks back when I was visiting Blast Radius record shop in Milwaukee. The first track hooked me right away with the long intro leading to some interesting change-ups and breakdowns. The artwork for their 2021 album Conditioned to Chaos is really fun to look at. It feels like every time I look at it I see something new. For instance, all the objects in the artwork have different little faces. The tower featured is the CN Tower located in Toronto. Friction just played a few weeks ago at the Dime MTL Challenge which is a skateboarding event that is typically held in different places each year but was held this year in Toronto. Without a doubt my favorite cassette that I own.
