Tutoring Services
Tutoring services are offered by a variety of departments, schools and offices as listed below. Many offer tutoring free of charge to students registered in their subjects. All departments that offer Science Core subjects also offer tutoring at no cost to registered students. Details on who to contact regarding tutoring in departmental subjects, can be found below. If your course is not listed, consult the department undergraduate academic administrator for more information.
Computing
Course 6 - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Subjects available: Course 6 Introductory, Foundational, and Header classes.
Eligibility and description: The Course VI Tutoring Program is coordinated by MIT's chapter of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), the national honor society for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, using undergraduate tutors. HKN offers one-on-one and group tutoring pending availability of tutors in any given subject.

Engineering
Course 1 - Civil and Environmental Engineering
Subjects available: All CEE General Department Requirements and Core subjects.
Eligibility and description: Peer-to-peer tutoring is available for any CEE student for all CEE General Department Requirements and Core subjects. Students utilizing the tutoring program must be attending lectures, labs, and recitations regularly.

Course 3 - Materials Science and Engineering
Subjects available: Course 3 undergraduate subjects required for Course 3 major/minor. See Science Core tutoring for 3.091.
Eligibility and description: In some circumstances, tutoring is available for students who need additional help beyond recitations and office hours.

Course 10 - Chemical Engineering
Subjects available: Tutoring is provided by the department for sophomore and junior 10.x subjects. The tutors are juniors and seniors in the department.
If you would like help, send a request to the tutors at che_tutors@mit.edu. (If you don’t receive a reply, keep asking; they’re busy, too). When a tutor responds, set up time and place for mutual convenience.

Course 16 - Aeronautics and Astronautics
Subjects available: Office hours are made available by instructors and/or TAs of all subjects required for the Course 16 major. Please contact your instructor or TA to inquire about tutorial help in a particular subject.
Eligibility and description: Subject-specific tutoring can also be arranged on an ad hoc basis; however, a student must regularly be attending lectures and recitations, and turning in assignments, in order for additional tutoring to be granted. The additional tutoring may be provided by a peer who has completed the subject or by a graduate student.

Communications Requirement
The Writing and Communication Center offers free one-on-one professional advice from communication experts. They offer coaching on written, visual, and spoken communication in both academic and professional contexts.

To be eligible for tutoring services, a student must meet the following requirements: attend lectures and recitations regularly, submit problem sets, and attend office hours. Priority will be given to students with a ‘C’ average or below, but we are generally able to accommodate all requests. Chemistry is typically able to assign a tutor within 1-2 business days. For nearly 30 years, the Talented Scholars Resource Room (TSR^2) has provided academic support and resources to MIT undergraduate students in a variety of subjects, with a focus on first year General Institute Requirements (GIRs). The TSR^2 offers P-set nights, exam reviews, facilitated study groups and one-on-one appointments that are led by facilitators who are academically advanced undergraduates or graduate students. These academic resources are free of charge, available every semester, and open to all students, regardless of whether they identify as a member of an underrepresented minority group. Course 5 - Chemistry

Course 7 - Biology
Subjects available: Students continue to have access to tutors for biology subjects during this period of remote learning. The department-sponsored tutoring program offers students support for 7.01x subjects, as well as 7.002, 7.003, 7.03, 7.05, and 7.06.

Course 8 - Physics
Subjects available: 8.03, 8.04, 8.05, and onward. Visit the Physics website for information on 8.01 and 8.02.

Course 18 - Mathematics
Introductory and upper level subjects available: 18.01, 18.02, 18.03, and 18.06, as well as upper-level subjects such as 18.100, 18.600, and 18.701
Eligibility and description: Visit the Math Learning Center, open online via Zoom - Monday to Thursday, 3pm–5pm and 7:30pm–9:30pm, beginning the second week of classes for fall 2020. During these hours, tutors will be available to help with problem sets or answer general questions about the above courses, in a welcoming environment.
