1. INTRODUCTION
TurboTube ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed to save and automatically apply custom YouTube playback speeds on a per-channel or global basis. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
By installing TurboTube, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. WHAT DATA TURBOTUBE STORES
TurboTube stores the following information on your device only:
Playback speed preferences: your global speed and any per-channel speeds (numbers between 0.25 and 2.0).
YouTube channel information: for channels you give their own speed, the channel ID, the channel's public display name and its @handle. This is read from YouTube's video player while you watch, or entered by you in the dashboard. It is used so the extension can apply the right speed and show channel names in the popup and dashboard.
Time saved: a single running total of seconds saved by watching faster than 1x.
Theme preference: whether the popup and dashboard use the light, dark or system theme.
This data does not identify you personally. It contains no information about you such as your name, email address, account details, financial data or health information. Channel names stored are the public names of YouTube channels, not your own.

3. HOW DATA IS USED
TurboTube uses this data only to remember and apply your preferred playback speeds, and to show your saved speeds, channels and time saved in the popup and dashboard. We do not use this data for advertising, analytics, profiling, research, or any purpose beyond this core functionality.

4. WHERE DATA IS STORED
All data stays on your device, in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and the extension's own local storage. No data is transmitted to any external server, and your data never leaves your browser. The popup and dashboard are pages built into the extension and do not load anything from the internet.
Users of versions before 1.1.0: older versions kept speeds in YouTube's local site storage. Version 1.1.0 moves them into extension storage and leaves a backup copy (yt_speed_saver_speeds_backup) in YouTube's site storage on your device. It is never sent anywhere.

5. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
TurboTube does NOT:
• Sell user data to any third party
• Share user data with any third party
• Transfer user data for advertising purposes
• Use user data to determine loan or lending conditions
• Allow any human to read or access your stored data
There are no third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks integrated into TurboTube.

6. PERMISSIONS USED
TurboTube requests the following Chrome permissions:
• storage — Used exclusively to save and retrieve your playback speed preferences locally on your device.
• Host permission for youtube.com — Used to run the content script on YouTube pages so the extension can detect video elements, read the channel name from the URL, and apply your saved speed preference automatically.
No other permissions are requested. We follow the principle of minimum permissions — we only request what is strictly necessary for the extension to function.

7. DELETING YOUR DATA
• Remove any channel's saved speed from the dashboard (Remove button).
• Uninstalling the extension deletes all data in extension storage.
• To also delete the backup copy from versions before 1.1.0, clear site data for youtube.com in Chrome's settings.

8. YOUR RIGHTS
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times.
You can:
• View your saved speeds by clicking the TurboTube icon in your Chrome toolbar
• Delete all saved data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage
• Opt out of per-channel memory at any time by toggling the button to the OFF (gray) state
We do not hold your data on any server, so there is no data request, export, or deletion process to go through with us.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
TurboTube does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension collects no personal information from any user regardless of age.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
