I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia. My research primarily falls within the area of sociolinguistics, as I conduct sociophonetic and discourse analytic research on language, identity, sexuality, and rurality. I have recently found myself interested in the effect that moving away to college has for Southern students. Further, my research deals with language ideologies and the ways in which they affect speakers' perceptions and productions of language itself. You can check out my UGA page here.
I am very passionate about education and teaching. While at UGA, I have served as the instructor of record for countless sections of The Study of Language (LING 2100) course offered through my department, while simultaneously mentoring new TAs as they begin their positions as instructors. Additionally, I give workshops to my department and its instructors regarding tools for success as LING 2100 instructors. This work ultimately led to me receiving the Outstanding TA Award from my department in 2023. For the calendar year of 2025, I was one of 15 Future Faculty Fellows at UGA, in which I led TA cafés with other cohort members and served as a leader for the university's graduate and TA communities among other things. Lastly, I was a nominee for the Excellence in Teaching Award though the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and UGA Graduate School for 2026.
