This international gender forum originates from the 112th New Southbound Plan Academic Activity Plan, which aims to realize “Work Together for Gender Equity: Taiwan and Thailand Gender Education Action Alliance (TTGEAA)” through interdisciplinary, cross-school, and cross-country practice.
The College of Education, National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), and the College of Education, Kasetsart University (KU), are working together on a cross-country collaborative project to promote the “Asian Alliance for Gender Education Action.”
It is expected that through the sharing of academic research and teaching practice experiences between teachers and students from Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam who are deeply engage in gender education/gender-related issues, an action alliance will be co-construction of action alliances, co-creation of curriculum, co-development of teaching contents, sharing of academic resources, etc., to enhance the energy of teachers and students from both countries in the field of gender education practice and research.

2024多元性別、平等與包容性國際論壇:跨域研究與教學實踐

活動說明:本國際性別論壇源自112年度新南向計畫學術活動計畫,期盼透過跨域、跨校、跨國共構「共同努力實現性別平等:臺灣和泰國性別教育行動聯盟(Work Together for Gender Equity: Taiwan and Thailand Gender Education Action Alliance, TTGEAA)」。由國立東華大學教育學院與泰國農業大學教育學院(College of Education, Kasetsart University)跨國攜手合作計畫,以東華大學教育學院為中心推動「亞洲性別教育行動聯盟」(Asian Alliance for Gender Education Action)。

期許透過臺灣、泰國、越南三國深耕性別教育/性別相關議題的教師透過學術研究分享與教學實踐經驗分享,共同建構行動聯盟、課程共創、教學共備、資源共享以及學術共研等途徑,以提升兩國師生在性別教育實踐與研究的能量。

The Gender Education Team from National Dong Hwa University Visits Thai Institutions for Exchange

On March 27, the "Taiwan and Thailand Gender Education Action Alliance (TTGEAA)" team from National Dong Hwa University, led by Professor Te-sheng Chang from the Department of Education and Human Potential Development, along with Professor Hau-yin Hsieh from the same department, Professor Yi-ju Lee from the Department of Tourism and Recreation, and Professor Jun-hua Lin from the Department of Taiwan Culture, visited Bangkok, Thailand, for a week-long exchange visit.

The team first visited the Faculty of Education at Kasetsart University in Thailand, where they toured the newly constructed buildings, introduced their project, and discussed its contents. During the visit, Professor Te-sheng Chang and Professor Udomluk Koolsriroj signed a memorandum of understanding and exchanged gifts, marking the beginning of the Taiwan-Thailand Gender Education Action Alliance project.

Next, the team visited the Panyapiwat Institute of Management, a formal university approved by the Ministry of Education of Thailand and founded by the CP Group. During the visit, the faculty and students learned about the vocational education system in Thailand and discussed further inter-university exchanges.

The team also visited the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education at Thammasat University. During this visit, the two universities presented and discussed their research on gender education. They also discussed the upcoming visit of Thammasat University’s faculty and students to National Dong Hwa University’s College of Education in May. After the discussions, the team toured Thammasat University's library and student study rooms. On the final day of the exchange, the gender education team returned to the Faculty of Education at Kasetsart University for in-depth discussions between the faculty members on the detailed implementation methods and objectives of the project, reaching a preliminary consensus and direction.

This international academic exchange activity has strengthened the cooperation capacity between National Dong Hwa University and several universities in Thailand. The faculty and students from both sides engaged in cross-national and cross-cultural exchanges and discussions, contributing to the future development and collaboration in the field of gender education. Under the continuous promotion of the Ministry of Education's New Southbound Policy, National Dong Hwa University will continue to enhance exchange programs through international lectures by scholars, faculty, and student teaching exchanges, and develop more interactive fields, jointly promoting the thriving development of Taiwan-Thailand gender education exchanges.


Academic Exchange Between National Dong Hwa University and Kasetsart University Promotes Taiwan-Thailand Educational Cooperation

On January 14, 2024, the College of Education at National Dong Hwa University warmly welcomed a delegation of faculty and students from Kasetsart University in Thailand, led by Professor Udomluk Koolsriroj. The reception was hosted by Secretary-General Te-sheng Chang, Dean Wen-fu Pan of the College of Education, Director Chih-wen Fan of the Teacher Training Center, and Director Chih-kang Yang of the Department of Special Education. A cross-national education forum titled "Perspectives Unveiled: Presentations by Master's Students in Kasetsart University's Curriculum and Instruction Program, Thailand" was also held, marking the beginning of the Taiwan and Thailand Gender Education Action Alliance project.

Dean Wen-fu Pan delivered a welcome speech on behalf of National Dong Hwa University, expressing warm greetings to the visiting Kasetsart University delegation. Secretary-General Te-sheng Chang introduced the unique features of National Dong Hwa University and its College of Education, and both parties exchanged commemorative gifts to inaugurate the forum. Subsequently, three papers were presented by Kasetsart University students, covering topics such as green sustainability, design thinking in teaching methods, and the current state of early childhood education.

The paper discussions were led by Professor Tsai-wei Wang and Professor Hau-yin Hsieh from the Department of Education and Human Potential Development, Professor Yi-ju Lee from the Department of Tourism and Recreation, and Professor Jun-hua Lin from the Department of Taiwan Culture. Through questions, responses, and topic sharing, they provided the presenting students from Kasetsart University with diverse perspectives. This also gave Taiwanese faculty and students an opportunity to understand different national contexts, facilitating in-depth dialogues and exploration of future collaboration possibilities.

In the afternoon, Professors Te-sheng Chang and Yi-ju Lee led the Kasetsart University delegation to Tonglan Elementary School for a cultural exchange activity. Principal Shou-liang Hsu of Tonglan Elementary School welcomed the Thai faculty and students, introduced the school’s features, and invited them to participate in various activities. The delegation engaged in cooking traditional bamboo tube rice, making handmade badges, roasting salted pork, and practicing traditional archery. During breaks, they played a friendly soccer match with the students of Tonglan Elementary School, enhancing mutual understanding through sports. Kasetsart University also gifted unique mugs to all the children and participants.

This exchange activity has significantly strengthened the cooperation capacity between National Dong Hwa University and Kasetsart University. Through educational forum exchanges and cultural experience activities, faculty and students from both sides have transcended national and cultural boundaries to learn from each other, contributing to the development and cooperation in the field of education. Under the continuous promotion of the Ministry of Education’s New Southbound Policy, National Dong Hwa University will continue to enhance exchange programs through international lectures by scholars, faculty, and student teaching exchanges, developing more interactive fields and jointly promoting the thriving development of Taiwan-Thailand educational exchanges.
