My name is Jihee Kim. I studied Western painting and sculpture at Chosun University in Korea, and I am an artist specializing in creating three-dimensional paintings. My work primarily explores people's lives and emotions through the use of discarded objects. My artistic process is not just about reconstructing or transforming objects, but about re-examining the traces and memories left by people and finding ways to communicate through them.

The materials I use are mostly everyday items that are discarded or no longer in use, such as old clothes or cardboard boxes. These objects are not just physical resources but important mediums that express people's emotions, memories, and experiences. For example, an old piece of clothing may hold the journey or past memories of its owner. A cardboard box, light and warm, yet empty inside, can symbolize a person’s inner emptiness or longing for belonging.

My work holds great significance in exploring connections with others. Through the process of reconfiguring discarded objects, I attempt to connect with the people they once belonged to. Each object becomes an important tool to express their identity and life story. Through this process, I aim to better understand people's lives and establish emotional connections with them.

]This process carries meaning beyond just creating art. It involves reviving people’s emotions and experiences through objects and expressing them in an artistic language. By recording people's faces and stories through their discarded belongings, I aim to offer a new perspective on their lives. My art creates a space where people can reflect on themselves and connect with their true selves.

Discarded objects are not merely useless things. They carry the traces of people's lives, and by re-examining them, I aim to foster communication with others. Through this process, I continue to seek not only to create art but also to create deeper platforms for communication with people. The core of my work lies in the connection and understanding between people. Through art, I communicate with others, express their stories in artistic forms, and create works that reflect their lives. This is my artistic philosophy and the key direction of my practice.

김지희 작가는 조선대학교 미술 대학에서 서양화와 조형을 공부 했고, 입체적인 회화를 중심으로 작업하는 대한민국 국적의 예술가입니다.

작가의 작업은 주로 버려진 물건들을 활용하여 사람들의 삶과 감정을 탐구하는 방식으로 이루어집니다. 작가의 예술적 과정은 단순히 물건을 재구성하거나 변형하는 것이 아니라, 그것을 통해 사람들의 흔적과 기억을 재조명하고, 소통하는 방법을 찾는 과정입니다.

작가가 사용하는 재료는 대부분 일상에서 버려지거나 사용되지 않는 물건들, 예를 들어 헌 옷이나 종이상자입니다. 이 물건들은 단순히 물리적 자원이 아닌, 그 안에 담긴 사람들의 감정, 기억, 경험을 말해주는 중요한 매개체입니다. 예를 들어, 헌 옷 한 벌은 그 사람의 삶의 여정이나 과거의 추억을 담고 있을 수 있습니다. 종이상자는 가볍고 따뜻하지만 빈 공간을 가짐으로써, 사람들의 내면의 공허함이나 소속감을 향한 갈망을 표현하는 상징적 재료가 됩니다.

김지희 작가의 작업은 사람들과의 관계를 탐구하는 데 큰 의미를 두고 있습니다. 버려진 물건들을 재구성하는 과정에서 작가는 그것을 통해 그 사람들과의 연결을 시도합니다. 각기 다른 물건들이 김지희작가 에게는 그들의 정체성과 삶의 이야기를 표현할 수 있는 중요한 도구가 됩니다. 이 작업을 통해, 작가는 사람들의 삶을 조금이라도 더 잘 이해하고, 그들과의 정서적 연결을 이루어내고자 합니다.

이 과정은 예술적 작업을 넘어서는 의미를 갖습니다. 물건을 통해, 사람들의 감정이나 경험을 되살리고, 그것을 예술적 언어로 표현하는 것입니다. 특히, 사람들의 얼굴과 이야기를 그들의 물건을 통해 기록하며, 그들의 삶에 대한 새로운 시각을 제시하고자 합니다. 김지희작가의 예술은 사람들이 자신을 돌아보고, 자기 자신과 연결될 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 공간을 만들어가고 있습니다.

버려진 물건은 단순히 쓸모 없어진 물건이 아닙니다. 그것은 사람들의 흔적을 품고 있으며, 이를 재조명함으로써 사람들과의 소통을 이끌어냅니다. 김지희작가는 이 과정을 통해 예술을 만드는 것뿐만 아니라, 사람들과의 더 깊은 소통의 장을 마련하는 작업을 계속해서 추구해 나가고 있습니다.

김지희작가 작업의 핵심은 사람들 사이의 연결과 이해입니다. 예술을 통해 사람들과 소통하며, 그들의 이야기를 예술적 방식으로 풀어내고, 그들의 삶을 담은 작품을 만들고 있습니다. 이것이 김지희작가의 예술적 철학이자 작업의 중요한 방향성입니다.
