Abstract

This document defines the concept of Physical Long-Term Support (Physical LTS). The goal of the standard is to make physical products reproducible over decades, eliminating unnecessary replacement caused by changing specifications rather than wear.

Motivation

You found the perfect product. The fit is right. The material is right. The color is right. Two years later it no longer exists.

Problem Statement

Modern manufacturing optimizes for novelty. Every collection introduces breaking changes:

- geometry changes

- material changes

- color changes

- sizing changes

As a result, physical products have no backward compatibility. Users are forced to repeatedly spend time and cognitive resources searching for products they have already chosen once.

Architecture

Physical API The public interface of the product consists of:

 - geometry

 - material

 - color

 - tactile feel Implementation

 The implementation may change:

 - factory

 - machinery

 - suppliers

 - logistics

 - manufacturing process

Implementation may evolve.

Physical API must remain stable.

Requirements

R1. The geometry shall remain unchanged.

R2. The material shall remain unchanged.

R3. The color shall remain unchanged.

R4. No Breaking Changes are permitted after release.

R5. The specification shall be reproducible across production batches.

Compatibility

Backward Compatibility

Required.

Frozen Specification (Spec Freeze)

Required.

Maintenance Highest priority.

Roadmap

Build 13 Seam Isolation Reinforcement of shoulder structure. Objective: Preserve garment geometry under long-term mechanical load.

Build 42 Cotton Engineering Objective: Balance durability, ventilation and tactile comfort.

Build 64 Color Passport Objective: Standardize black color. Maintain identical appearance across production batches independently of pigment supplier.

Build 86 Pattern Freeze Freeze garment geometry. After release no modifications of fit or proportions are allowed. Release Policy The specification is frozen only after all engineering objectives are completed. No release date is announced until the specification becomes reproducible.
