TrustLync — Privacy Policy
Last updated / October 6, 2026
1. Introduction
TrustLync ("the App") is a URL and QR-code security scanning application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App sends when you use it, and what it does not collect.
2. Information We Send When You Scan a Link
When you enter or scan a URL/domain to check its safety, the App sends that URL or domain only to the following independent third-party services, solely to perform the security check:
- Google Safe Browsing (malware/phishing check)
- RDAP domain registries (public domain registration data — age, registrar)
- ipapi.co, with ipwho.is as a backup (to identify the hosting country/provider of the scanned website's server — not your own location)
- Spamhaus DNSBL (domain reputation check)
These services are operated by their respective third parties, not by us. We do not control how they retain or use the data they receive; please refer to their own privacy policies for details.
The App also connects directly to the link you scan, from your device, in the same way a web browser would, in order to follow redirects and check where the link leads. The scanned website can therefore see your device's IP address, just as if you opened the link yourself. We do not receive this information.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App displays ads served by Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud and abuse, the Google Mobile Ads SDK and its advertising partners may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and operating-system information, app information, and how you interact with ads. We do not sell your personal data. This processing is carried out by Google and its partners under their own policies; see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App asks for your consent before any ad is requested. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy settings in the App. On any device you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → All services → Ads).
4. Information Stored on Your Device
Your scan history is stored only locally on your device (in a local database). It is never uploaded to us or to any server we operate, and there is no account or cloud sync feature. You can delete this history at any time from within the App, or by clearing the App's data from your device settings.
5. Camera Permission
The App requests camera access solely to scan QR codes. QR code decoding happens entirely on your device; no photo or video is captured, stored, or uploaded anywhere.
6. What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location (GPS), photos, contacts, calendar, or messages. The App has no account system and no analytics/crash-reporting SDK. The App does include the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display advertising, as described in Section 3.
7. Data Security
All communication with the third-party services listed in Section 2 uses encrypted HTTPS connections.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
