The song "Dabbda Nahi [Bonus]" by Sikander Kahlon (ft. Goldy Kingmeker) appears to be a tribute to the Punjabi culture and a celebration of being a Jatt, which is a term used to refer to a Punjabi farmer or landowner. Bhagat's journey to capture these 'separation' songs, a genre that emerged with the rise of indentured labour, began with a bike trip in 2017 across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states, which have a history of such migration.

Bhagat said the songs are encouraging people to examine their history more closely and embrace their past, with some people of Indian heritage now choosing to add the derogatory term for indentured workers "girmit" to their names.

In 2007, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned the singer for an explanation of the song "Parveen" from the album Nara Sada Ishq Aye, alleging that it used the name Parveen in a derogatory manner that would hurt the sentiments of society.[11]
