Q: What is Trail to Troop?
A: Trail to Troop (formerly known as Webelos Woods) is a weekend event designed for Arrow of Light (5th grade) Cub Scouts and their families to experience Scouts BSA camping, activities, and troop life. It helps Scouts prepare for crossing over from Cub Scouts into a troop.
Q: Who can attend?
A: Arrow of Light Scouts, their parents or guardians, and Pack leaders. Younger Cub Scouts are welcome to visit Saturday, but the overnight camping is only for Arrow of Light Scouts.
Q: When and where is it?
A: October 17–19, 2025 at Camp Wisdom, 6400 W. Red Bird Ln., Dallas, TX. Check-in is Friday evening between 6:00–9:00 PM.
Q: What activities will Scouts do?
A: Activities include archery, BB guns, outdoor games, camping, cooking with Troop 574 Scouts, and a Saturday night campfire program with an interfaith service.
Q: What does it cost?
A: $20 for youth and $15 for adults. This fee covers camp registration and meals with Troop 574 (Saturday breakfast through Sunday breakfast).
Q: Do Scouts complete any requirements?
A: Yes. Arrow of Light Scouts can complete Adventure Requirement 5: Camp overnight with a Scouts BSA troop.
Q: How do we register?
A: Packs register through the official council link. Be sure to list “Troop 574” as your host troop in the campsite request box. Registration closes Friday, October 10, 2025.
Q: What paperwork is needed?
A: BSA Health Form Parts A & B for all youth and adults. Adults must have completed Youth Protection Training (YPT)/ Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT), .
Q: What should we bring?
A: Personal camping gear such as a tent, sleeping bag, clothing, and toiletries. A full packing list will be provided after registration. Troop 574 provides meals, but each Scout should bring a mess kit (plate, bowl, cup, utensils).
Q: Do parents have to stay overnight?
A: Yes. Each Pack must provide adequate adult leadership per BSA guidelines. Parents are encouraged to attend with their Scout.
Q: Can Scouts attend Saturday only?
A: Yes. Families who cannot stay overnight may come Saturday to participate in activities and meals with Troop 574.
Q: Why camp with Troop 574?
A: Scouts see older Scouts leading and experience troop life in action. Parents can meet leaders, learn about our program, and ask questions about the transition to Scouts BSA. It is a safe, fun, and supportive way to get ready for crossover.
