Ferry @ Orient Point --> Bus to Camp Yawgoog (abt 30 minutes).
The ferry has a little cafeteria on board, however it is recommended that your scout comes with a day pack, with lunch, a snack, and a drink packed inside. He will not be able to access his main pack at this time because it would still be locked away in the trailer.
Once at camp, the adults will check the scouts into the camp, where we will then proceed to walk to our campsite and begin to make ourselves at home. This includes setting up tents, bunks, setting up "the garage", going over camp rules, and unloading the trailer.
The next day, usual activities at camp begin, and scouts will start to get into the flow of things. Yawgoog is a fairly large place, but the new scouts will quickly learn their way around with the help of the older scouts.
The beginning of the week starts with the BSA swimmers test, which allows the waterfront staff to know whether or not a scout can swim adequately. If the scout passes, he gets his "swim tag" and is able to access waterfront activities throughout the week.
The end of the week typically ends with a dress parade in full Class A uniform.
Bus to ferry --> ferry back to Orient Point
On the ferry ride back home, we give out awards to certain scouts that have demonstrated that they have gone above and beyond throughout the week. We also hand over the role of SPL to our new electee, MATT LASHER!!!!
