Our tour provider is One Percent Travel: Rare and Unique Experiences specializing in unique, small-group experiences. Our friend, Alberto Morales, the marvellous owner, has created a carefully planned, rich itinerary and will personally guide us. He will include many out-of-the-way spots that big groups just don’t get to. Alberto’s deep love of this area and his thorough knowledge will help us appreciate the history of the ancient civilization, the art and culture of Oaxaca and, of course, local cuisine.
Dia de Muertos is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico where Mexicans gather to honour and remember their loved ones who have passed. In 2008, UNESCO inscribed this holiday in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The origins of this holiday can be traced to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl.
Visiting Mexico during the Day of the Dead Festivities is a surreal, rare and unique experience you can't miss and will never forget. You will witness the rituals used to celebrate these important dates, all of them full of colour and tradition. They include extravagantly decorating private altars, honouring the deceased using sugar skulls and marigolds, and offering favourite foods and beverages to welcome the spirits.
This tour will give you a taste of Mexico City and highlight Pueblo City, Cholula and Oaxaca with all they have to offer, all-the-while experiencing the week that culminates in the observance of the Day of the Dead.
Join us and experience a wonderful cocktail mixed from cultural, historical and sightseeing ingredients on this Day of the Dead tour!
