Lance Newman is in his 14th year of teaching overall, and this is his third year as head choir director at Trinity High School. He leads the A Cappella Mixed Choir, Concert Tenor-Bass, and co-leads the Harmony Show Choir with Mrs. Carnley.
Mr. Newman has consistently achieved Sweepstakes ratings at UIL and has placed students into the TMEA All-State Choir, All-Region Choir, 9th-10th Grade Honor Choir, Lewisville ISD All-District Choir, as well as the TCDA MS/JH State Honor Choir in San Antonio. Mr. Newman previously assisted at Arlington High School for one year, led the choral program at Euless Junior High for six years, and started his career as assistant choir director at Briarhill MS in Lewisville ISD for three years.
Mr. Newman grew up in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area where he was a student at Harwood Junior High and graduated from Trinity High School in 2007. He attended the University of North Texas College of Music and received a Bachelor's of Music Education with honors. In 2011, Mr. Newman was chosen to represent UNT as a TCDA Student Conductor. While at UNT, Mr. Newman served as both assistant camp director and camp counselor for the All-State Choir Camp, which supports 275 area high school campers in the learning of their All-State literature. In 2020, Mr. Newman finished his second journey at UNT by completing the Master's of Music Education program.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Newman sings in the University Christian Church Chancel Choir. He has also previously been honored to perform with Fort Worth Chorale, Voices of Fort Worth, Umanitá Chorale, Highland Park Chorale, and the Dallas Symphony Chorus.
Mr. Newman enjoys spending time with his wife Nadia (herself a Trinity alum whom he met in choir!) In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his dog Lily, watching movies, listening to his record collection, playing video games, and participating in trivia competitions.
Shannon Carnley is in her 13th year of teaching, and her first as the Assistant Choir Director at Trinity High School! Mrs. C grew up in Carrollton, TX playing soccer and singing in the choir at Creekview High School. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education in 2013. She also earned her Masters in Music Education from SMU in 2021.
Previous to her new role here at THS, she was the Head Director in Irving ISD at de Zavala Middle School, as well as Wilkinson Middle School in Mesquite ISD. Before she was a Head Choir Director, she was the Assistant Director at Watauga Middle in Birdville ISD, as well as the Music Teacher at Granger Elementary in Northwest ISD.
Her choirs have earned sweepstakes at UIL contests, superior ratings at various other contests, and have had many students place in the All-Region choir. Although she is proud of her previous Choirs successes, she is most proud of the relationships she has built with the students, families, and communities at her previous positions, and can't wait to continue building those relationships with the students and families at Trinity High School! Mrs. C is a member of TMEA, TCDA, and TMAA. She is also the Alto section leader at FUMC Denton.
She resides in Corinth, TX with her husband, Mr. C, a Band Director in Denton ISD. They have a dog (Wrigley), and two cats (Gus and Pip). Mrs. C enjoys trips to Disney World, watching reality TV, and hanging with her friends and family...especially with her nephew, Hudson.
Michael Rausch received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University in 2001 while studying with tenor Richard Estes. He would go on to receive his Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory in 2007 where he studied with former Fort Worth Opera Young Artist instructor Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
Mr. Rausch has been teaching voice privately in DFW for 22 years. Other schools where he has taught, both presently and in the past, include: Colleyville-Heritage High School, Carroll Senior High School, Collin College, and Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus.
Though his performance calendar has significantly thinned out since his son was born in 2013, Michael’s past performance credits include: the Dallas Children’s Theatre national tour 2001-2002, operatic debut as Achilles in Iphigénie en Aulide with Boston Opera Collaborative in 2006. guest artist with TCU Opera as Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus in 2012, Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, Gaylord Ravenal in Showboat, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, The Minstrel in Once Upon a Mattress, Cliff in Cabaret, and Amos in Chicago. He has also served as the Music Director for such productions as Hairspray, Snoopy the Musical and Avenue Q.
Mr. Rausch loves being a dad, watching football, and taking family trips over the summer. He currently resides in Denton with his wife, Mandy, son, Zachary, and pit bull, George.
Rebecca Mugnolo Originally from Rochester, New York, Rebecca Mugnolo is an up-and-coming soprano based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. With a growing reputation for her performances as operatic leading ladies, Rebecca has recently portrayed roles such as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) with Opera Arlington, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Cendrillon (Massenet's Cendrillon), Stella (A Streetcar Named Desire) and Giannetta (L'Elisir d'Amore) with UNT Opera. Additionally, she has performed as Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) with the Fillmore Opera Studio, Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) with Varna International Music Academy, Gretel (Hänsel and Gretel), and Pamina (The Magic Flute) with Roberts Wesleyan University Opera Theatre. Rebecca holds a Graduate Artist Certificate and a Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from Roberts Wesleyan University.
