Chengdu, is the capital city of Sichuan province in western China. It is a big city with a population of over 11 million people.
In 2010, UNESCO announced Chengdu as Asia's first "City of Gastronomy" for its well-known history as a food city.
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the biggest home to over 150 giant pandas. The government works hard to protect these pandas and other endangered animals at the base. That's why it's known as the "Cradle of Giant Pandas".
