Welcome to Travary: Travel Map & Planner ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
One of our core principles is that your travel memories belong to you. Travary is designed as an "offline-first" application, meaning the vast majority of your personal data remains securely on your device.
Since Travary operates primarily offline, we do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect or store your personal travel data on our servers. However, the App requires certain device permissions to function correctly:
Location Data & EXIF Metadata: To place your memories accurately on the world map, the App reads the location data (GPS coordinates) embedded in the photos or videos you select (EXIF data). The App may also request real-time device location to pinpoint your current position on the map. This location processing happens locally on your device.
Camera & Photos/Media: The App requests access to your device's camera and photo gallery so you can capture and attach media to your travel memories. We do not upload, scan, or analyze your media on external servers. The "Auto Memory Scanner" feature processes your gallery entirely offline to find travel locations.
User-Generated Content: Travel plans, notes, budgets, checklists, and map color preferences are stored locally in your device's internal storage.
Notifications: If you choose to set reminders for your upcoming travel plans, the App will use local device notifications.
While your personal data is kept local, the App integrates with specific third-party services to provide core functionalities. These services have their own privacy policies:
Mapbox: We use Mapbox to render the interactive world maps, display map styles (e.g., Street, Satellite), and provide location search results (Geocoding). Mapbox may collect anonymous telemetry data (such as IP addresses and map interaction events) to improve their mapping services.
Google Play Billing / Apple In-App Purchases: If you choose to upgrade to "Travary Pro," the transaction is securely handled by the app store provider (Google or Apple). We do not have access to your credit card information or billing address.
AI Trip Planning Services: If you utilize the AI-powered trip generation features, the specific parameters you input (e.g., destination name, duration, and interests) may be sent to third-party AI providers (such as Google Gemini or similar APIs) solely to generate your itinerary. No personally identifiable information is sent with these requests.
Because your data (memories, pins, plans) is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it.
You can delete specific memories, media, or plans directly within the App.
If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data associated with the App will be permanently deleted by your device's operating system (unless you have set up a cloud backup via your OS, such as Google Drive or iCloud).
Note: If you uninstall the App without backing up your device, we cannot recover your travel memories for you.
We implement reasonable security measures within the App's architecture to protect your locally stored data from unauthorized access by other applications on your device. However, the overall security of your data also depends on your device's security settings (e.g., screen locks, encryption).
Our App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect user accounts or transmit personal data to our servers, we do not monitor the age of our users. If you are a parent and believe your child is using the App inappropriately, you may restrict their access via your device's parental controls.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or app features. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy or through a notice within the App.
