Translate Lite is a local-first translation app. It does not require an account and does not add cloud translation or cloud sync.
Translate Lite may handle:
Text you type or paste.
Text recognized from images.
Translation results.
Translation history and favorites saved on this device.
App settings such as recent languages, default target language, Wi-Fi-only model download, and speech rate.
Speech recognition result text only when speech input is available on the device and you choose to use it.
Advertising-related data handled by advertising platforms, such as advertising identifiers, device information, app interaction data, diagnostics, and approximate location when used by the selected ad SDK.
Translation history, favorites, and app settings are stored locally on your device.
You can clear saved translation history in the app settings. You can also remove app data through Android system settings or by uninstalling the app.
Translate Lite uses ML Kit local translation models. A network connection may be needed to download language models before a language pair can be used offline.
The app does not send your translation text, image recognition results, translation history, or saved settings to an app-owned server.
Some system or platform components may have their own behavior, including Google Play model delivery, Android sharing targets, system Text-to-Speech engines, and system speech recognition services. These are controlled by Android, Google Play services, the device manufacturer, or the app/service you choose.
Translate Lite may use advertising platforms to show ads and support the app.
Advertising platforms may collect or receive data needed for ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency capping, measurement, diagnostics, and personalized or non-personalized ads, depending on your device settings, consent choices, region, and the ad SDK used in the release.
The app does not use advertising platforms to upload your typed translation text, recognized image text, translation results, or local translation history.
When you capture or choose an image, Translate Lite uses it to recognize text for translation. The app does not add server upload for images or recognized text.
Speech input is an optional feature and is available only on supported Android 31+ devices, supported languages, and compatible speech services.
When used, audio is processed by the configured speech recognition capability on the device. Translate Lite receives recognized text and uses it as editable input. The app does not save raw microphone audio in translation history.
Translate Lite uses Android TextToSpeech to read text aloud. The app does not add a cloud Text-to-Speech service. Supported voices and languages depend on the system TTS engine installed on the device.
When you use Share, Translate Lite sends the selected text to the Android system share sheet. After you choose another app, that app handles the shared content according to its own policy.
Translate Lite asks for permissions only when needed:
Camera: capture an image for text recognition.
Photos/images or system picker access: choose an image for text recognition.
Microphone: optional speech input on supported devices.
If you deny a permission, the related feature may not work, but other translation features remain available.
Translate Lite is a general utility app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Translate Lite does not sell user data.
Before publishing, complete Google Play Data safety based on the exact advertising SDKs included in the release build.
Expected disclosure areas when ads are enabled may include:
App activity, such as ad interactions.
App info and performance, such as diagnostics and crash-related data.
Device or other IDs, such as advertising ID.
Approximate location, if used by the selected ad platform.
Do not mark translation text, OCR results, or translation history as collected by Translate Lite unless a future SDK or feature actually transmits that data.
This policy may be updated when app behavior changes.
