Three ways to translate documents directly
We offer you three different options for translating documents and understanding their content or transmitting them into other languages.
Today's technology allows us to translate single words, expressions and complete sentences, and we can even translate posters and signs in real time with the help of a camera and a translation tool.
In any case, the normal thing to do is to export the content we want to translate to the tool in question so that it can work its magic and give us the translation in the chosen language.
Here are three methods for translating documents without copying and pasting the content into a tool. You open or upload the document and the tool will translate it into the selected language.
TranslaDocs: From Word, Excel and PowerPoint
We start with the most commonly used editing applications, integrated in Microsoft Office. Both Word, Excel and PowerPoint incorporate the Translate function from Office 2010 for Windows (Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, OneNote 2010) and Word 2016 for Mac onwards.
Word 2010, 2013 and 2016 for Windows and Word 2016 for Mac allow, from any of their components, to translate an entire document or fragments of it from the Review > Translate > Translate Document tab.
A copy of the translated document will open in a separate window that we can edit to correct or improve.
If we only want to translate single words or phrases, we will find the option in Word as well as in PowerPoint and Excel, under Review > Translate. A side panel will allow us to choose the source and target languages and the result, which, if we are satisfied, we can add to the document by clicking on Insert.
Microsoft Translator supports more than 60 languages.
From Google Drive
If instead of Office you are more of Google Drive, the old Docs, when opening any type of document with Google Docs we will find the option Translate document within Tools.
As in the previous case, after selecting the language and giving the document a new name, a translated copy will open in a new window that you can edit to correct possible errors.
This option is available for text documents as well as for spreadsheets and presentations.
From DeepL
And since there are no two without three, DeepL, an intelligent translator that learns as it translates and chooses the right word depending on the context, something that other translators do not always get right.
We have already talked about DeepL, a free and fast online translator that supports English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Italian.
One of its most recent innovations is the possibility of translating documents by uploading them directly to its server. Specifically, it supports text documents in Word format (DOCX) and presentations in PowerPoint format (PPTX).
Simply drag and drop the document into the corresponding area of the page or click on Translate document, choose the target language and select the file from your disk.
Its paid version also translates TXT documents and makes it easy to edit DOCX, PPTX and TXT files once they have been translated.
For a more precise and direct approach, simply choose from one of these links to navigate straight to your native language's page. This will help you better comprehend the site and accurately translate your document. Optimize your translation experience today!
