In this lesson, I will be teaching about the hardships of anti-trans laws as it pertains to gender affirming healthcare throughout the United States.
Gender affirming care is healthcare to relieve gender dysphoria in transgender individuals. Gender affirming care includes medical care like Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy (GAHT), top surgery, and Facial Feminization/Emasculation surgery and includes less invasive ways to healthcare such as vocal training, hormone blockers, and gender therapy. Every single medical organization recommends gender affirming health care to transgender individuals who are experiencing dysphoria, but politicians go against their advice and put in place anti-trans laws against healthcare.
The effects of not receiving gender affirming care can lead to detrimental mental health effects such as low self-esteem, heightened dysphoria, severe levels of distress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and even suicidality. These mental health outcomes lead to low grades in school or low work performance, social isolation, low concentration, and much more.
In this lesson, I will go over how the human right of healthcare has been overridden by politicians in an unbiased way and how the future generations can help take back their right to having healthcare for all. The future is in the hands of the upcoming generations and they have the right to express how they want to be treated in the world.
